Opening the Studio Doors: A New Chapter for Jean Cherouny
Jean Cherouny’s recent Open Studio was a wonderful reminder of the power of art to bring people together. Throughout the day, the studio welcomed a steady flow of visitors, including longtime friends, past collectors, fellow artists, and curious newcomers eager to learn more about her work and creative process.
In recent weeks, Jean’s new mural and bright open-studio sign have attracted attention from people passing through the neighborhood. Several visitors stopped in specifically to ask about the sunset mural located across the street from her home studio at Ocean Hill Properties in Aruba. Their enthusiasm sparked meaningful conversations about public art, community engagement, and the stories behind Jean’s growing body of work.
Inside the studio, guests were introduced to Jean’s newest paintings, including Jungle Bliss, which received particularly positive feedback. Inspired by Aruba’s lush tropical environment, the work celebrates movement, nature, and the vibrant energy of island life. Visitors were equally captivated by her emerging Island Creatures series, a collection that reflects her fascination with the unique wildlife and natural wonders that surround her.
The open studio also provided an opportunity for guests to experience Jean’s distinctive rollerblade painting technique firsthand. Many were fascinated by the bold movement, color, and expressive freedom that define her artistic practice.
Jean is especially grateful for the support of her husband, Hal, whose hard work helped make the studio presentation possible. From carefully drilling the holes needed to hang artwork throughout the space to assisting with countless behind-the-scenes details, his dedication played an important role in bringing the vision to life.
As Jean reflects on the success of this first open studio event, she feels encouraged by the connections made and the conversations shared. If this experience is any indication of what lies ahead, it marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter—one that will help guide her journey as she continues exhibiting abroad, sharing her work in galleries and venues throughout Aruba, and welcoming new audiences who are eager to hear her story and experience the spirit behind her art.
